Project for Education in Animal Protection

Adhyatmik Foundation Inc. (AF) is seeking support in the development of Child Educational Programs and projects that raise environmental awareness and a sense for animal and nature protection by creating materials and implementing activities based upon the ancient Vedic Philosophy. The Vedas comprise the most comprehensive holistic system dealing with all aspects of life and nature. They form the bedrock of Indo-Aryan civilization and represent the culture of philosophers who despised the arts of commerce living mostly by agriculture and eminently respecting nature. This culture was more concerned with the happiness that lies in spiritual thought and living than in material possessions. They believed in a simple, natural lifestyle, and positive thought rather than being focused on the materialistic thinking of today. The publications by AF are based upon this perennial knowledge that transcends purely Eastern tradition and is relevant globally.

Adhyatmik Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Pennsylvania. Inspired by Professor Dr. Svami Purna the Foundation is dedicated to the transcription and publication of his teachings and knowledge. Dr. Svami Purna's teachings are based on the authentic traditional Vedantic universal philosophy that embraces an understanding of Sanskrit, the Vedic texts, respect for nature and the environment, Ayurvedic health tradition, meditation and the practice of yoga as part of everyday life.

 The activities of Adhyatmik Foundation, Inc include

  • educational research
  • the publication of materials including the translation of texts for all ages and stages of life (see: Publications in the below mentioned websites)
  • Short discourses, talks and seminars on yoga, health, the environment and stress management with an emphasis on a preventive approach.

In view of these activities AF is creating a series of booklets and short stories that can be easily integrated with other nature and environmentally focused courses. For reference please see http://www.adhyatmikfoundation.org We would be pleased to discuss the activities including support opportunities and funding partnership as we are working on an animal sanctuary and wellbeing village project in India. You can contact AF by e-mail to spedding@easynet.co.uk   (AF  ID   71-0597822)

Ganga Clean -Up

Having its physical origin in the Himalayas, near Mt Kailas, no river symbolizes India’s spiritual heritage more than the Ganga, or Ganges River.  Indian mythology assigns the Ganga a divine status, said to have sprung from the divine waters of the spiritual realm, thereby explaining the water’s unusual purity.  Ganga is worshipped as a spiritual entity by millions of Indians who look upon the river as Ganga Mata or Mother Ganges since like a mother who sustains life, this loving mother embraces her children and cleanses them physically, emotionally and spiritually – a divine gift.

And here is the current problem:  a river, once known for its exceptional purity, has become so contaminated that it has become a river of disease.   Its incredibly high pollution contains everything from industrial chemicals, polythene bags and worship materials, to raw sewage, and dead bodies.

The Ganga supports over 400 million people, and if the horrendous pollution is not controlled or drastically reduced, it will likely be the end of communities living along its banks.

There is a movement to deal with this vital project. India’s Minister for the Environment approved a ‘Mission Clean Ganga’ with the objective to ensure that by the year 2020 no untreated municipal sewage and industrial waste should flow into this 2500km long river. This would entail the formulation of detailed sewage treatment plants in critical pollution areas and major towns along the Ganga and its tributaries, building water treatment plants, fixing dams and other water quality improvement measures, the high cost estimated to be to be dispersed between central and state governments.

However, any campaign to make Ganga visibly clean and free of disease is a monumental task both physically and financially, and since governments move notoriously slowly, it is often up to private organizations concerned about the future of such vital resources to generate awareness of the pollution in the Ganga and to take the initiative to deal with the problem.  It is also a priority to instill in the average people that Ganga is a national heritage of international significance and that all can share the responsibility to keep it clean.

One such organization actively engaged in this important project is Adhyatmik Foundation.  Funds are urgently needed to educate people and to support all efforts.   Traditionally Ganga Mata plays a part in every Indian life, from the practical to the spiritual.  Additionally: traveling seekers from all over the world meet disappointment when faced with the present conditions of the once legendary sacred waters. Without dramatic action to clean up Mother Ganga, this river’s own life is under threat.  Everyone can help.

1. Life Training Project

 Objective: To raise funds for the development of the Foundation training centre in India with a view to replicating the concept globally as a vision of an environmental and energy friendly multi cultural and apolitical centre which is non-sectarian and open to humankind regardless of gender or diversity, established without affiliation to country or ideology in the interests of overall humanitarian purposes that houses and facilitates positive activities including neutral debates covered by the relevant media such as TV, newspaper, magazine, journals etc , annual world conferences on peace, educational and training programmes on key issues - health, well-being, environment etc – highlighting peace and prosperity for all.

The Role of Adhyatmik Foundation (AF), Inner Wisdom Outer Peace (IWOP) and

H H Sri Sri Sri Svami Purna Ji Maharaj (SP)

To inspire and to maintain spiritual, physical, mental and emotional balance Sri Svamiji Maharaj, AF and its international network under Inner Wisdom Outer Peace offer vital services and varied activities, including those listed below. IWOP invites the growth and furtherance of humanitarian aims through an understanding of true spirituality. As nature demonstrates without growth stagnation occurs: the Vedanta illustrates this through the Tree of Life. Individual awareness is rooted heavenwards, fed by cosmic space, but it flowers earthwards into action.

 With the above philosophy in mind IWOP has developed community centres in different countries which demonstrate spirituality in action and which are open to all as havens from the stresses of modern life and enable positive creative projects to flourish. The activities to be carried out in the Life Training Project will also reflect the energy and support of the Foundation's members. By way of example the following services and resources that are provided by the IWOP Foundation could be available:

  •  Courses: workshops, seminars, study and research into Yogic Science, with its practical application in everyday life;
  • ·A platform for retired leaders worldwide with a vast array of interdisciplinary skills, experience and knowledge;
  • ·Self-help Information: including breathing, concentration and meditation (including walking meditation) techniques as aids in stress reduction and habit correction and general responsible healthcare guidance by complementary and alternative medical methodology; and
  •  Exchange of Ideas: through participation in courses and spiritual discourses and debate, as well as publication of inspirational literature focused on traditional lasting values that provide guidance for stability in the home/family and a real balance in every area of life. (see objectives already established and set out in IWOP and related websites).

In order to assist – to inspire, guide, teach and plan – at the most effective level for the LF Project SP will introduce appropriate business – and other – leaders to the concept and engage them through philanthropic and governance advice and activities in a manner that complements their business vision and priorities and acknowledges their contribution so that through their sponsorship:

  • Financial and other resources are achieved;
  • Global recognition of philanthropic and humanitarian contribution is attained;
  • Reputational credit is established; and
  • Positive change is enabled.

We need your financial/other help

Sulabh International Social Service Organization

WSS India                                              Women-In-Law

Adhyatmik Foundation Inc with it's sister organization Sulabh International Social Service Organization has practiced the important ongoing project " Mission Sanitation".

It has developed a scavenging free two-pit pour flush toilet; safe and hygienic on-site human waste disposal technology.  This is a new concept of maintenance and construction of pay-and-use public toilets with bath, laundry and urinal facilities and generations of biogas and biofertilizer  produced from excreta-based plants, low maintenance waste water treatment plants of medium capacity for institutions and industries.

The United Nations center for Human Settlements has recognized Sulabh's cost effective and appropriate sanitation system as "Urban Best Practice" at the Habitat -II conference held at Istanbul, Turkey in June 1996.  The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations has granted Special Consultative Status to Sulabh in recognition of its outstanding service to mankind and In July 2008 honored the work of the Mission.

400,000 children  under the age of 5 die in India each year from diarrhea and from the lack of sanitation infrastructure.

Sulabh has set up a network of centres all over the country to train boys and girls from poor families, especially scavengers so that they can compete in the open job market.
