Project for Education in Animal Protection
Adhyatmik Foundation Inc. (AF) is seeking support in the development of Child Educational Programs and projects that raise environmental awareness and a sense for animal and nature protection by creating materials and implementing activities based upon the ancient Vedic Philosophy. The Vedas comprise the most comprehensive holistic system dealing with all aspects of life and nature. They form the bedrock of Indo-Aryan civilization and represent the culture of philosophers who despised the arts of commerce living mostly by agriculture and eminently respecting nature. This culture was more concerned with the happiness that lies in spiritual thought and living than in material possessions. They believed in a simple, natural lifestyle, and positive thought rather than being focused on the materialistic thinking of today. The publications by AF are based upon this perennial knowledge that transcends purely Eastern tradition and is relevant globally.
Adhyatmik Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Pennsylvania. Inspired by Professor Dr. Svami Purna the Foundation is dedicated to the transcription and publication of his teachings and knowledge. Dr. Svami Purna's teachings are based on the authentic traditional Vedantic universal philosophy that embraces an understanding of Sanskrit, the Vedic texts, respect for nature and the environment, Ayurvedic health tradition, meditation and the practice of yoga as part of everyday life.

The activities of Adhyatmik Foundation, Inc include
- educational research
- the publication of materials including the translation of texts for all ages and stages of life (see: Publications in the below mentioned websites)
- Short discourses, talks and seminars on yoga, health, the environment and stress management with an emphasis on a preventive approach.
In view of these activities AF is creating a series of booklets and short stories that can be easily integrated with other nature and environmentally focused courses. For reference please see http://www.adhyatmikfoundation.org We would be pleased to discuss the activities including support opportunities and funding partnership as we are working on an animal sanctuary and wellbeing village project in India. You can contact AF by e-mail to spedding@easynet.co.uk (AF ID 71-0597822)

SUPPORT for PROJECTS
Adhyatmik Foundation, Inc
The following note, describing the desperate situation, was sent to Adhyatmik Foundation by Sonia, a dedicated volunteer who is frustrated at the official and uncaring attitudes. She needs help desperately:
Two Elephants
I received a call to help two elephants. The complaint was that they had not been fed for the last three days!
I had to go and check and when I did, sadly I realised that they did not have anything to eat or drink, they were standing in a pile of garbage, tied to a shadeless tree (temp was 42 deg C). They seemed agitated and were swaying continously.
They are two girls – sisters in fact. I tried calling Wildlife SOS and all they could say was that their papers were fine and why don't I take some bananas to them!!!!!
I called some other people, but nothing was working out. Next I contacted the municipal commissioner myself, asking him to do the needful thing, (provide food and water) since it is under his jurisdiction. Neglect like this can cause animals to react by causing damage to life and property, similar to what happened in Meerut and Agra before. The commissioner then assured me that the elephants would be looked after. Now, today is another day and I am going to check if these gentle giants are alright.
If we had our shelter, I am sure at least I could have got the help they needed. At times like these, my hands really feel tied. The Asian Indian elephant is an endangered species as well - just like the tigers - rare and numbered. I am afraid for these elephants and I feel extremely bad when people mistreat animals badly. However, I am still at the case, and I will not give up. I do need help, please!
